Walter Grant, President
C(k)P, ChFC, CRPS, CPFA, CBFA, AIF

Walter has a background in accounting and began in the industry as a generalist over 20 years ago. Through his work, Walter saw that there was a deficiency in how people were educated about qualified / non-qualified investment options. He decided to move on his tax knowledge and began partnering with TPA’s to hone his knowledge and fulfill client needs in that area.

Walter’s approach to planning begins with a thorough review of your qualified plan with the help of the RPAG system. His industry experience focuses on plan optimization and the utilization of behavioral finance tools to increase participant enrollment and individual contributions to the plans. He interacts closely with plan sponsors to help them manage and monitor their company plans as well as minimizing fiduciary liability and exposure. He deals extensively with corporate 401(k) plans as well as executive compensation and individualized planning.

Walter received his B.A. in Accounting from University of Mississippi in 1998, and spent several years at Met Life and New England Financial where he received a number of accolades, including Lifetime Leaders, Chairman’s Council twice, and achieved Master’s level five times. Since moving to MassMutual Walt has been the recipient of the 5 Star Award.

Walter enjoys giving back to the community and is active in sports both as a spectator and teaching/coaching his children. Walter also loves spending time with his family, and travel internationally (especially the Bahamas).

Ken McClintock, Director of Retirement Plan Services

kenmcclintockKen graduated from Clarion University in Pennsylvania and began his career in the Retirement Planning industry 22 years ago. He has worked for a number of major providers over that time as well as serving as a concierge personal banker dealing with a wide variety of financial products for personal investment. Throughout his career Ken has focused heavily on the client service side of the relationship regardless of who the client may have been. While at plan providers, he has worked closely with agents and brokers to ensure seamless onboarding and transition of new plans. While in banking he made sure that his individual clients had everything they needed in order to ensure successful retirement. Ken also has a deep background in participant education and sponsor education.

While not at work Ken enjoys many sporting activities including baseball and golf, spending time with his family and taking in concerts and theater events.

Ryan Montgomery, Education Specialist/ Financial Planner
ChFC®, CASL®, CLF®, CRPC®

Ryan spent several years with MetLife where he qualified for Leaders club.  Since 2012 he has been with MML Investors Services, LLC where he has achieved Management Council 3 times. Ryan is instrumental in the selection, onboarding, and training of new agents as well as conducting frequent participant education meetings for our plan sponsors.

Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife and 1 year old son that keeps him very busy.

Andy Shull, Director of Financial Planning

Andy’s role as Director of Financial Planning is to provide astute guidance and education to individuals and companies. Andy’s background as an attorney helping insurance companies manage their financial risk gives him a unique perspective. As you can imagine, an attorney that deals with risk management at an insurance company is responsible for accounting for all scenario’s that might take place. We believe this same approach is as true for an insurance company as it is for an individual planning for retirement, a small business owner struggling to make payroll, and so on.

Andy leads his clients through a process wherein we take inventory of their current financial position, goals and objectives– and the risks which threaten the same. He then helps clients design and implement realistic financial plans which are tailored to each client in relation to those risks.

John Leech, MBA, Executive Financial Planner

After serving in the United States Air Force for four years, John Leech left to seek employment in the private sector where he ended up in the financial services industry. John’s goal was to combine his aptitude for analytics with a desire to work with people. He landed on his feet at a bank and then a large national investment broker, but his career at that company was cut short when the financial crisis crippled the economy in 2008. A chance encounter with Brad Fair would serve as the genesis of their friendship and their partnership in the Summit Group Companies. John joined The Partners Group and Aegis Retirement Group in 2016.

John and Brad found they complemented each other’s skill sets. John had a firm grounding in investments, while Brad’s understanding of risk management and a unique holistic planning methodology helped clients follow through on their objectives. Today, supported by Aegis Retirement Group team, John empowers medical professionals and business owners to gain confidence and clarity in their financial decision-making. “We try to raise the bar in terms of the quality of strategic work we do for our clients,” says John. “To do that, we need to stay in very close contact with our clients’ other advisors: it’s a win-win-win for the client, for us, and for their other advisors to have a team that is working in concert.”

“People start out as clients here, but everyone ultimately becomes family,” John goes on to explain about the client experience the firm strives to deliver. The secret to the firm’s success is its high touch concierge service model, which assures clients that they always have someone to turn to should they have any questions or concerns about their finances. “Many firms claim to be client-centric,” says John. “We know we are client-centric, because we actually ask our clients what they want, and then we deliver to address those needs. It’s that simple.”

John holds an MBA from the Mississippi State University College of Business and Industry. He and his wife Christe’ reside in Tupelo with their two children. As a family, they enjoy biking, hiking, and swimming.

Mike Sisson, MA, Office Manager

Mike’s background is from outside the industry, having previous experience managing projects and outcomes reporting in both the real-estate appraisal industry and the non-profit sector.  He has a Masters of Biblical Studies from Regent University. Before coming to Aegis Retirement Group he worked in the Performance Improvement department of a local non-profit organization. Mike joined Aegis with a desire to “get behind a successful individual and push” to enable that individual to be even more successful. He handles much of the paperwork processing for the group, as well as being the client service specialist and first point of contact for many customer concerns.

Mike enjoys reading historical fiction, following his favorite English Soccer team, Arsenal, and logging miles on his road bike. He is active in his church and is a frequent chauffer to his two daughters.
